Troubleshooting
Can't get a friend's real-time location?
These are the most common causes and the steps that usually resolve them.
01
Your friend's Location Services are turned off
If Location Services are disabled on your friend's device, Findly cannot receive an updated location.
Try this: Ask your friend to open iOS Settings, go to Privacy & Security → Location Services, and turn on Location Services.
02
Findly does not have location permission
Even when Location Services are on, iOS cannot provide location data if Findly has not been authorized.
Try this: Ask your friend to open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Findly, choose the location permission supported by the app, and enable Precise Location when available.
03
The signal is weak or the network is unavailable
Location updates may be delayed or fail when a device has poor cellular reception, weak Wi-Fi, or no network connection.
Try this: Ask your friend to move to an area with a stable network connection, then reopen Findly and wait for the location to refresh.
04
The app is not running in the background
Background restrictions or force-quitting the app may prevent Findly from continuing to update location.
Try this: Ask your friend to enable Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Findly and avoid force-quitting the app when location sharing is needed.
05
A server or app issue is delaying the update
Temporary service delays or an outdated app version may cause the displayed location to lag behind.
Try this: Confirm that both users have the latest Findly version, restart the app, and try again after a short wait.
Safety note: Findly is not an emergency service. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services instead of relying on an app location.
